MEET THE OWNER

Coaching young children and providing opportunities for girls to enjoy all of the amazing things that football has to offer has been truly life affirming for me.  The joy that I get from seeing young players improve, develop and have fun during training and on the pitch is immense. The simple fact that many of the girls I coach may not have ever tried football at such a young age had I not launched the  ChicksThatKick football programme  is enough to inspire me and spur me on along my little journey.  Every smile, every laugh, every celebration, each positive interaction between players fills my heart with happiness.

I truly believe that in football, you can learn so much on the pitch that can be used off the pitch too.  Everything from being creative, though to tactical awareness, adapting quickly to changes, recovering from setbacks, supporting others, respecting your opposition and being strong and determined is so transferable.  Playing football also provides fun, fitness and friendships for the many people who choose to participate in the game at all levels.

I hope that many of the girls I teach will continue to enjoy football over the years and that I have helped to give them something that they can enjoy throughout all of life’s hight and lows.

Having not been allowed to play football at school as a young girl, it has only been later in life that I’ve had the opportunity to play regular football at the correct level, in a supportive environment with some amazing people. The immense gratitude that I have for the chance that I have now been given to enjoy football has driven me on my mission to make football accessible to as many girls as possible.  Starting off as a grassroots coach and setting up a girls team at our local football club then lead on to completing my FA Level 1 and UEFA C coaching badges whilst also taking a more entrepreneurial approach to football, creating and launching ChicksThatKick.   I hope that my work is making a difference to young girls and their families.

 Continuously improving as both a coach and player is something I am very passionate about and in my free time, you will often find me reading about football, planning sessions, playing football, studying tactics or seeking out any other way to self improve.  I believe that you are never too old to learn and get better at something.  There is so much information out there about anything that you are passionate about.  Grab hold of it all and chase your dreams!  It doesn’t matter who you are, how old you are, what gender you are……just go and do it if you are lucky enough to have the chance.  Expand your horizons and grasp opportunities that come your way. Go out and create those opportunities and never let anyone hold you back.

  I feel incredibly lucky to be working in a job that has so much meaning and purpose.  I have also been very lucky to encounter many amazing people along my little journey…..coaches, business owners, volunteers…all on the same mission, working together to make the world a better place for youngsters.  I genuinely LOVE my career and wouldn’t change it for the world.
